Traceless object marking and sensing technology

We use Creo equipment for our prepress equipment and they have developed a very interesting product to prevent fraud.  List below is some information from their site.  If you are interested you can get more information by clicking on the link to the left.  If you would like talk to someone about this please click the contact button above.

Creo is in market development phase for its newest technology. Traceless™ allows you to create unique, optically and forensically-invisible identification codes. Only Creo readers can detect the presence of the security taggants.

To guarantee authenticity and catch counterfeits, Creo taggants can be added to:

bullet Paper pulp or woven fibers
bullet Printing inks, copier and printer toners
bullet Varnishes, sprays, powders
bullet Paints, glass, building materials
bullet Molded or extruded plastics
bullet Molten metals
bullet Fuels
bullet Fertilizers and explosives
bullet …almost anything you can think of!

With applications in printed security documents, labels, packaging, containers, and high-value parts and equipment, Creo Traceless solutions can be used for anti-counterfeiting, inventory management, product tracking and tracing, or simple brand authentication.

The need for Traceless technology
An overwhelming number of high-value items, including passports, checks, currency, bank documents, tobacco and alcohol products, high-profile consumer and retail brands, garments, and shipping packages are at risk of counterfeiting and tampering. New innovations in desktop computing make producing convincing fakes cheaper and easier than ever before. Identity and brand theft costs companies billions of dollars annually, and is increasing each year.

Security technology today
Technologies such as holograms, UV taggants, fibers, and security substrates and inks have been around for awhile. New and emerging technologies such as biometrics (DNA), printable electronics, and radio frequency identification (RFID) including RF-fibers added to paper pulp, are beginning to be used commercially. All promise to deliver, but currently have significant technical problems. Moreover, these technologies carry substantial cost, a barrier that limits use in the mass market.
